Daniel George Corrigan, 57, of 1014
Buck Tree Lane, husband of Jamie
Hefner Corrigan, died Tuesday, April
22, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical
Center.
Born April 14, 1951 in Miami, FL he
was the son of the late Claud H.
Corrigan and Dorothy Lamont
Corrigan. He was the Senior Director
of Corporate Communications at AnMed
Health.
Mr. Corrigan was a 1974 Phi Beta
Kappa graduate of the University of
South Carolina where he received the
J. Rion McKissick Award given to the
top graduate in the School of
Journalism. Upon his graduation, Mr.
Corrigan moved to Anderson and went
to work as an editor for the
Anderson Independent-Mail. In 1981,
while working for Perpetual Federal
Savings and Loan, he earned first
place honors in a national speech
contest conducted by The Institute
of Financial Education held in Los
Angeles, CA. In 1984, he began his
career at AnMed Health. Mr. Corrigan
was an active member of the
community. He was past president of
the Rotary Club of Greater Anderson
and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a
past Chairman of the Board of New
Foundations and a member of the
United Way Board of Directors. He
was a key committee member with the
Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, a
graduate of Leadership Anderson, and
a member of the delegation that
earned Anderson County the title of
“All America City”. Mr. Corrigan
recently co-authored AnMed Health: A
Century of Healing, a book detailing
the health system’s first 100 years
of service to Anderson and the
surrounding region. He was also a
member of Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church where he served on the Church
Council.
Surviving are his wife, Jamie of the
home; son, Levi Corrigan of
Montezuma, CO; daughter, Alexis
Corrigan of Clemson; two brothers:
Jim Corrigan of Raleigh, NC and
Phillip Corrigan of Sterling, VA;
and uncle, George Corrigan of Coral
Gables, FL.
Memorial services will be held at 11
AM, Saturday at Central Presbyterian
Church conducted by the Rev. Paul
Slice. The family will receive
friends from 6 until 8 PM, Friday at
the Northeast Chapel, 3205 Hwy 81
North. The family is at the
residence.
